RTI Innovation Advisors is actively searching for a Director of Innovation Partnerships. This vital role will focus on partnering with various business units within RTI to integrate IA's unique innovation services into key proposals thereby maximizing client value within the U.S. Federal agencies that RTI supports. The role demands active engagement in seeking out and leveraging collaborative opportunities across RTI that lead to successful endeavors.

You will act as the cornerstone of IA, establishing the primary channel of communication between our innovation advising services and the various RTI business units that cater to essential government sectors like health, education, the environment, and energy. You will ensure that our innovative services are seamlessly woven into the fabric of the business development cycle from the start, making certain that our cutting-edge solutions are emphasized in discussions with government agencies. This role is a key element of our integrated "One RTI" strategy, aimed at magnifying RTI's beneficial impact and commitment to improving the human condition.

While the preference is that you are local to RTP and willing to work hybrid, remote options will be considered for those who are willing to travel to our RTP Headquarters on a monthly basis.


Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates with skills and experience to fulfill the following job requirements:

  • Strategic Innovation Integration: Build strong collaborative relationships with leaders across RTI business units to seamlessly embed IA's innovation advising services into their offerings, enhancing the value proposition of proposals to government clients.
  • Business Development: Proactively engage with RTI business units early in the proposal process, ensuring value-adding innovation concepts are woven into RTI's solutions from inception.
  • Market and Innovation Insight: Conduct in-depth market intelligence analysis to grasp the evolving needs of government agencies, utilizing this insight to tailor the strategic integration of innovation services in a manner that addresses these needs effectively.
  • Championing Innovation Culture: Advocate passionately for the incorporation of innovation within the organization, emphasizing the adoption of best practices and methodologies developed by IA to drive growth, enhance efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across all engagements with government clients.
  • Government Business and Relationship Management: Oversee the maintenance and expansion of IA's government business and relationships, ensuring a parallel development of relationships across the broader RTI organization. This includes not only fostering and enhancing IA's own government connections but also strategically leveraging these relationships to support and amplify the business development efforts of other business units. The goal is to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to growing our presence and influence within government sectors, capitalizing on synergies between IA's innovation services and broader RTI offerings to maximize impact and drive mutual growth.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical degree, Business Administration, or another relevant field is required. A Master's degree in these areas is preferred.
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or a similar area is essential, particularly within a consultancy or advisory capacity that involves interaction with government agencies.
  • A well-documented history of successfully promoting teamwork among various business departments and spearheading key strategic projects.
  • A proven track record of effectively positioning for and obtaining contracts within government and / or private sector markets.
  • A history of identifying and cultivating new business ventures and alliances.
  • A deep comprehension of the U.S. government sector is crucial, including familiarity with agencies focused on health, education, environmental issues, and energy.
  • Substantial experience in liaising with government entities and a solid understanding of their procurement processes.
  • Proven experience in guiding cross-functional groups and operating within the framework of a large, multifaceted organization.
  • Outstanding skills in communication, negotiation, and building relationships are required, along with the capacity to connect with and influence individuals at high levels of leadership.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities, with a keen emphasis on innovation and the implementation of transformative practices.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary in order to collaborate with internal teams, establish partnerships, and maintain government client relations.

Preferred Skills and Capabilities:

  • Innovation Consulting Acumen: Proficiency in grasping the nuances of innovation consulting services and the skill to strategically incorporate them into comprehensive proposals, enhancing value propositions to meet diverse client needs.
  • Leadership and Strategic Vision: Demonstrated track record of leadership in business development, with a strong expertise in strategic and organizational planning.
  • Market Analysis and Growth Identification: Demonstrated expertise in analyzing current and future markets for growth opportunities, with the ability to translate client agendas into new revenue streams.
  • Strategic Partnership and Value Capture: Proven success in identifying strategic growth opportunities and driving an organization to capture value. This includes experience in business development, working with strategic partners, and leveraging clients' business challenges proactively.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.


RTI considers multiple factors when making an offer including, for example: established salary range, internal budget, business needs, and education and years of work experience possessed by the applicant. Further, salary is merely one element to our offer.
