Job Description

Semikron Danfoss is seeking a Sr. HR Manager for its Utica, NY facility. This is an impactful role for the organization requiring the ability to truly partner with business leaders supporting and driving tactical and critical initiatives. The Sr. HR Manager will translate business, regional and site strategy into HR strategy, plans and solutions. This role will partner with the site to hire, engage, and develop talent to build the capabilities required for short and long-term success.

As a trusted advisor to the site, business and functional leaders, this role will guide and take action in all aspects of HR including Performance Management, Employee Relations, Compensation, Engagement and Retention. This position will be based onsite in the Utica, NY office. Relocation support for this position is available. Applicants must have authorization to work in the US.The base salary range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
The range for this position is $120K to $135K.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Together with the Head of Production, creates a vision for organizational culture as a Target / Future State, based on personal experiences of working within a best practice environment.
  • Create a vision for HR Manager best practice.
  • Support cultural transformation change.
  • Demonstrates autonomy of thinking and execution, whilst being collaborative at the same time.
  • Coaches leaders towards best practice execution of people management responsibilities.
  • Guides the leadership team towards practices that lift employee engagement.
  • Creates an environment of trust (from a current position of low trust).
  • Guides leadership team towards practices that lift trust.
  • Shifts the HR function from a position of reactive and "catch up" to proactive and practice-leading.
  • Support the managers/supervisors at the shopfloor how to lead and showcase what good leadership means.
  • Support the Head of Production in establishing leadership routines, create awareness for dos, don'ts and no gos.
  • Act as sparring partner to Head of Production in his leadership towards the salaried employees.
  • Identify unacceptable behavior and suggest counter measures.
  • Help employees to understand what their role is (facilitate onboarding process and support managers in their leadership task).

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant area of Business, Human Resources, or similar program. Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of HR experience serving a HR partner within a manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of 3 years leading and coaching HR professionals
  • HR Certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) highly preferred
  • Leadership, continuous improvement and change management experience
  • Ability to develop, translate and execute strategic initiatives into operational/tactical plans with experience in process implementation, change management, leading transformation processes and manage resistance
  • Diplomatic, sensitive, and adaptable to the needs of people from different cultures with extensive knowledge in employment laws, affirmative action plans, worker's compensation, and safety
  • Passionate about creating a dynamic and thriving working environment that inspires employees to do their best
  • Relationship builder and team player, capable of identifying collaborative solutions to business challenges
  • Experience working with employees and business leaders in a matrixed organization from remote or virtual sites
  • Travel expectation for this position is <5%
